What is HMI?
HMI The title Human Interface Machine means the interface between man and machine. This device establishes the connection between the operator and the controller in an industrial system. HMI is a control panel communication panel. This panel includes a numeric keypad and an LCD screen that displays TEXT.
Data visualization
Follow the signs, process and production time
Monitor machine input and output
HMI uses a software to provide the user with the industrial process performance information and receive control commands from the operator. The information is usually displayed graphically in HMI format.
HMI is used to monitor the input and output of machines, display data data and view time, workflows and tags.
HMI panels allow the user to step and start, setpoint settings, and perform other functions to adjust and interact with the control system. Because the basis of HMI performance is software, the wiring is removed from the system, so it will be very easy for the user to make settings.
In fact, any electronic page that establishes a relationship between a user and an equipment is called an HMI, but it is generally the most commonly used term in industrial processes. Be:
Types of HMI
HMI allows you to manage a variety of process controls and visualizations. The simplest type is the models that input through the touch screen, and the most advanced type is the control panels that are used for very complex industrial automation systems.
HMI key pad
As the name implies, this HMI is a type of control panel with buttons, each of which has its own use. Many factories use this HMI model to increase their efficiency and production. With this HMI model, the user can issue different commands to one or more machines with just one easy-to-use interface. When all the commands are combined in one place, manual control of the machine by the operator will be very convenient.
HMI data control
This type of HMI is used to collect data, this information can be transferred to a printer or computer depending on the user. This HMI is used in cases where we are dealing with a lot of data. This type of HMI is used if in a process that requires data to be collected from machines or equipment.
HMI Supervisor
The third type of HMI is the HMI type of monitor, which typically works with the Windows operating system. The use of this type of HMI, due to the graphic and touch screen, allows the highest level of user interaction with machines and processes. Of course, this type of HMI is the most common type of HMI.
PLC and HMI connection
Most modern control systems use PLC to control motors, pumps, valves, and many other devices. HMI is a communication and interactive device between PLC and user.
When you write an application for HMI, you create a graphical interface on each page that allows the user to receive and send commands to PLC via a configured protocol. Everything you create, including input field outputs, alarm displays, and status notification icons, is linked to an address in PLC.
Advantages of using HMI
HMI systems are now one of the most important technologies, especially for medical equipment. If used properly, access to the control system will be easy, reliable and effective.
Difference between HMI and SCADA
SCADA (data collection, monitoring and control system) and HMI are very similar and both are part of a larger industrial control system, but each has different applications and offers different capabilities. The main task of HMI is to provide visual information to the user so that he can more easily monitor the industrial process. The SCADA system has more capacity for data collection and control function over the system. Unlike SCADA systems, HMI does not collect and record process information, but HMI is a very effective communication tool that is used as part of the SCADA system or in conjunction with the SCADA system.
