What is a slew bearing?
Slew bearings, also known as slewing ring bearings, are bearings that are commonly referred to as gear bearings. These bearings typically have gears on the inside or outside of the bearing, and usually one of the rings remains fixed while the other rotates. However, there are also examples of versions without gears that are very useful. They are used both horizontally and vertically. The most prevalent application of this type of bearing is in rotary furnaces, drums, mills, rotors, and blades of wind turbines, as well as various large and heavy equipment with a substantial diameter and, of course, high loads. A significant example of the usage of this type of bearing is in mobile tower cranes, also known as Tower Cranes, which are used for transporting various loads at significant heights. They are also highly utilized in cement production plants, steel production plants, mining mills, and mining facilities.
