What is an industrial thermocouple?
Thermocouple is one of the types of instrumentation equipment that is used to measure temperature in different industries and in different temperature ranges. Thermocouples are made by connecting two non-homogeneous metals, usually in the form of wires. These metals are twisted and welded on one side (to prevent mechanical stress between the two metals) and form a hot point (hot junction) or measurement.
Types of thermocouples in terms of material type
Based on the possible combinations of metals, a myriad of thermocouples can be made, but in practice the number of thermocouples is limited. Thermocouples are made of base metals or special metals.
Thermocouples made of base metals are as follows:
K-type thermocouple
J-type thermocouple
T-type thermocouple
N-type thermocouple
E-type thermocouple
And thermocouples made of special metals are as follows:
Type S thermocouple
R type thermocouple
Type B thermocouple
Each of the types of thermocouples we have mentioned has its own temperature measurement range and is suitable for a specific industry and application
