What is a temperature transmitter?
A temperature transmitter is a combination of a temperature sensor such as a thermocouple or RTD and a transmitter housed in a device. The temperature sensor is the most important and main component of the temperature transmitter and performs the work of temperature measurement and also the transmitter amplifies the signal and transmits it to the monitoring system or control room. In other words, the temperature transmitter measures the temperature and converts it into a 4-20 mA signal corresponding to the measured temperature. The temperature sensor is located at the outermost part of the temperature transmitter and is directly connected to the temperature measuring environment in such a way that changes in ambient temperature cause changes in the sensor temperature.
